The Sign of the Eagle, published at last!
2:37 pm pst
'The Eagle' now showing in Theatres
Note: I saw the movie, The Eagle, on Friday, Feb. 12th. The story takes place in 140 A.D. It is about a young Roman
officer, Aquila (played by Tatum Channing), who, along with his slave, Esca, go north of Hadrian's Wall, the northernmost
frontier in the Roman Empire, in Britain to search for the lost eagle, the standard and symbol of the Ninth Legion, which
was destroyed by Celtic Picts and Caledonians.
The leader of the legion was Aquila's father. He feels because
his father lost the legion, the family has been disgraced and he must find the eagle to restore his family honor.
This is an excellent quest movie, that is realistic in showing how the people, Roman Celts lived during that time. There is
action and violence but without the gratuitous gore and excessive bloodletting, hence the PG-13 rating. If you like adventure
movies (and I do), I highly recommend this movie. I have already pre-ordered it on Blu-ray DVD.
Short Story: "Death Most Poisonous"
Just a reminder, my historical mystery short
story, Death Most Poisonous, featured in the December 2010 edition of Down in the Dirt Magazine is still available. See the Short Story page.
That's all for now.
